Timeline- Start of Digital Portfolio

For my digital portfolio, I am first going to spend the 25th to around the 27th working on my home page collecting the information and pictures and putting the things together, i will use some of the information i did with our first HTML project. The from the 28 to the 2nd of December work on personal information like my family and travels, including pictures and information. Then from the 3rd to the 8th of December work on my academic information, which is mainly my main focus and I am a bit worried that 5 days might not be enough but I will work something out for the final deadline, then on the 9th to the deadline I will work on my future intentions and countries I have resided in.

I think working on one particular field at a time, will help me finish on time, instead of collecting the information and then putting things together, I guess I like multi-tasking. I hope, well I have to meet the deadline on time, and at the same time create a finished and polished portfolio.

My Collage in Photoshop

This Is My Collage

Reflection

For my collage, I did something that held a lot of significance to me, which was Pakistan's 2009 Fashion week. There has been a lot of conflict and turmoil in Pakistan because of the Taliban. I read a lot of magazines and look at many collections that are shown in other fashion weeks around the world. It is something that is very dear to me and I love watching different pieces by these incredible designers. When I heard about Pakistan's fashion week on the news, I was so excited and happy that these women and men were taking a stand against the Taliban, and doing something that they believed in, this really meant a lot to me, and it touched in a profound way, so when I found out we were going to make collage's on something of our choice, I had to cover this.

For this collage it took me quite a while to understand and design how I was going to create this picture, and clearly highlight and show all my pictures. It wasn't as hard as I originally thought it would be. Once I got started, and with all the tools Mrs.Mora had taught us and my photography club supervisor, It wasn't as difficult. I think I did a good job over all, although I had a bit of problems with cropping and cutting, like taking of bits of hair, their ears but I think the effects and adjustments didn't make it as bad as it actually was.

I think as far as improvements, next time taking care with the way I cut out the pictures, doing it a bit more meticulously the next time. Clearly following the outlines and etc. Taking a bit more risks would help like using more filters and adjustments rather than the ones I already knew or that she had shown us

I think the best advice I could give to students who will be doing this assignment would be to pick a topic or subject for your portfolio that you feel strongly about and is close to you other than something random and kind of irrelevant.

I utterly and completely love and adore photoshop. It is such a useful and amazing tool to use for editing pictures. There is so much you can do with this tool compared to other tools like paint and etc. Its really neat and cool, what you can do with photoshop, you can brush or smudge scars, give someone a leg or eye that wasn't there before in their orginally photos. I think learning about photoshop in this course was very important and vital for all of us before beginning our portfolio's which we wouldnt be able to do without all the knowledge we acquired on resolution, picture size and etc with photoshop.

I think my performance with the first workshops, was not as good as I know I could have done and accomplished. I am a bit dissapointed with some of them like the lady because I know if I had been a bit more paitent with myself I could have done a successful job with those workshops. I was really happy and proud of the end result of my portfolio. I felt it was really important to get those pictures out there, and include them because they were very attractive figures that also had a strong and powerful story behind them.

Most of the pictures you see on many websites, have been photoshopped and edited to make them better whether its their contrast, color or brightness, Photoshop can do it all. That's why it is such a useful and brilliant tool when building or creating a webpage or website.I think photoshop can help us with changing the resolution of the pictures we are going to put on our websites, cropping them, changing their sizes and other editiing tools, which will help our websites more attractive and appealing to the eye.

My Photo Collage- Pakistan's First Fashion Week

Last week, Pakistan held its fashion week in Karachi, which is a city located about two hours by plane from the primary nesting place of the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Despite threats from the Taliban and religious extremists in the south, the show still went on. This was the first fashion week Pakistan has hosted, with only Pakistan's very own designers, models and backstage crew.
The show was a great success, and a gesture of defiance to the Taliban and their views and approaches to women in the region and their preferences for the burqa despite the militant violence and security issues in the country. Some of Karachi's top designers displayed their clothes like Sonia Battla and others. I am doing my collage on this because I strongly believe in empowerment of Islamic women who have gone through lot of hardships and struggles because of the Taliban's rules regulating much of woman's rights, and them taking a stand with this display of some of Pakistan's best threads, models, textures and designers.
